Chandigarh: The state government Tuesday notified the Haryana Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Rules, 2016.
Under this a parent or guardian of a child whose birth had been registered without a name, can inform the Registrar, orally or in written, and have it registered within 12 months from the day of registration of birth.
Approval has been given by the central government, a Health department spokesman said.
He said in case registration was made before commencement of the Haryana Registration of Births and Deaths Rules, 2002, information would be given before December 31, 2019.
Similarly, where the registration was on or after the commencement of the Haryana Registration of Births and Deaths Rules, 2002, information would be given before a period of 15 years from the date of registration, reported the Business standard.
In case, registration is to be made on or after the commencement of the Haryana Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Rules, 2016, the information would be given before a period of 15 years from registration, he added.
If the birth register is in the registrar’s possession, name would be entered against a late fee of Rs 50, the spokesman said.
He added if not and the information is given orally, a report would be made after necessary particulars are given.
If information is given in writing, the registrar would forward it to the district registrar for making the necessary entry against a late fee of Rs 50, he said.
