Mumbai: The parish priest of a Jacobite Syrian Church lost his life while boarding a Central Railway local from Dadar station early on Wednesday.
Fr Abraham Puliyelil, 62, was a Kerala native and had arrived in Mumbai on July 1.
He was the parish priest of the St Mary Jacobite Syrian Church in Naigaon.
The GRP said Fr Abraham lost his grip and fell onto the tracks. He was taken to Sion Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on admission.
He had suffered severe head injuries and a fractured leg. Fr Abraham is survived by his wife and three children.
His body was taken to St Mary church in Naigaon, where a service was conducted. The Dadar GRP have recorded a case of accidental death.
