Kottayam(Kerala): The bicentenary celebrations of the arrival of Church Mission Society (CMS) missionaries in the state, being organised by the Madhya Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India (CSI), will conclude with a host of programmes in November.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, CSI deputy moderator Bishop Thomas K Oommen said the four-year long celebrations will come to a close with a function to be held in Kottayam from November 11 to 13.
“A series of programmes will be conducted as part of the conclusion of the fete. As part of the proramme, we will hold a meeting of all bishops in CSI, a mass procession of the CSI members, a public meeting and mass prayer. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the public meeting to be held at the Nehru stadium (Rev Thomas Nortan Nagar) on November 12. CSI delegates from across the globe will attend the meeting and other programmes,” he said.
The Bishop further said that the highlight of the programme will be the presence of the grandchildren of many earlier-day missionaries in the programme.
The CSI has implemented several projects worth `100 crore across the country in connection with the bicentenary celebrations.
