BJP councilor Ms. Sashi Tomar who presided over the event said, “We greatly appreciate the work being done by Believers Church under the leadership of Metropolitan Dr. K.P Yohannan. While the corporations are doing their best to tackle the menace of these diseases, such participation from the civil society and non-governmental bodies adds great momentum to our efforts of countering these diseases.”
While addressing the gathering, Bishop Dr. Simon John of Believers Church said, “While there is still awareness amongst the privileged classes, it is the underprivileged who need awareness as well as medical attention during times of an outbreak. We will replicate these camps across northern India and reach out to the grass-root level people to prevent further outbreak.”
Father Jagan Mohan Rao, Dn. Simiyon Nayak, Dn. Dhiraj Naik, Dn. Meshak Philip and Br. Josaf Daniel were also present at the camp.
Metropolitan of Believers Church Dr. K.P. Yohannan while speaking about the initiative called it an “essential and pragmatic solution to the problem.”
“Every year we distribute mosquito nets and conduct such camps during the mosquito breeding season. This is the least we can do to assist government and prevent this outbreak from becoming an epidemic”, he added.
Believers Church executes various initiatives across India in the field of Health and Hygiene. The Church also has two hospitals and one medical college which caters to over 1000 patients every day. The church also organizes medical camps throughout the nation to provide medical care to over 100000 people every year.
