A journey across several districts to spread the message of divine mercy named, Karunya Kerala Sandesha Yatra (journey to spread message of mercy) is being held under the auspices of pro-life committee of Kerala Catholic Bishop’s Conference (KCBC).
The Karunya Yatra was inaugrated by president of KCBC, Cardinal Baselios Mar Cleemis and is led by Bishop Sebastian Adayanthrath, chairman of family commission and pro-life committee of KCBC.
Many eminent social workers and religious people including Fr. Paul Madassery (Director), George F Xavier (Captain), Br. Mavarus Maliakkal (General Convenor), Sr. Mary George (Animator) are leading and supporting the movement.
Visiting charitable institutions, spending time in prayer with the inmates , felicitating the employees of the institutes and supporting their needs are the main intentions of this journey. It also aims to get homeless and destitute to the charitable institutions or hospitals as needed.
The event also been organising meetings to honour people working in charitable institutions, regardless of their religion or social background. Media personnel who spread the message of divine mercy in their work are also being honoured by the event.
“The face of God is Love and His hands are Mercy” is the motto of the event. In October the Karunya Yatra travelled through the troubled ares in Kannur district in Kerala which were hit by political violence and offered prayers for the community. The event has also been able to honour around 3000 charitable workers so far.
In the coming months the Yatra will be visiting Sultanpetta,Palakkad, Irinjalakuda, Pathanamthitta,Thiruvalla,Punalur, Mavelikara, Neyyatinkara,Thiruvanathapuram districts.
The event comes to close on March 25th, 2017. This was announced in a press release by Sabu Jose, the General Secretary and coordinator of pro-life committee of KCBC.
A closing ceremony for the event is planned in the presence of several bishops and social workers from across the state.
