Bus was going from Bhubaneswar to Hyderabad
Vijayawada: Eight people were killed and more than 30 wounded early February 28 when a bus fell into a canal at Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.
The driver was allegedly drowsy and lost control of the Volvo bus, which was heading from Bhubaneswar to Hyderabad.
At least 10 of the wounded are reportedly critical. They are being treated at a government hospital nearby. Gas cutters were used to pull out passengers from the wrecked vehicle.
The bus was to cover a distance of over 1,000 km and had made a stop at Vijayawada, where a new driver took over, ndtv.com reported.
At around 5.30 am, the bus overran a bridge divider and plunged through the gap between the two lanes into the canal.
