Kendrapara: A 6-year-old girl displayed rare courage and saved her elder sister from a crocodile in Kendrapara district of Odisha, eastern India.

According to local media reports, Mamata, daughter of Abhay Dalai of Baradia village, had gone to a pond near their house along with sister Ashanti at around 4 pm on April 4.

The 5-ft long crocodile suddenly attacked Ashanti while the sisters were taking bath. Mamata pulled her sister out from water and the crocodile slipped into the pond.

Ashanti sustained injuries on her right hand in the crocodile attack and was rushed to a hospital.

Reaching the spot, the forest officer has provided financial aid to the injured.

Admiration and local people applauded Mamata for her daring act.
