Dimapur: Following a complaint from the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), the state government has decided not to observe Digital India Day on Good Friday, April 14 next.
This information was contained in a press release issued by the NBCC on Wednesday, Eastern Mirror Nagaland reported.
“The Nagaland Baptist Church Council has made a representation to the chief minister, government of Nagaland on the issue of Digital India Day to be observed on Good Friday.
The Church had stated that Passion Week or Holy Week is the time from Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday (Resurrection Sunday) and the week includes Good Friday.
“This is a time when Christians all over the world commemorates the dead and resurrection of Jesus Christ and includes exercises of worship and spiritual devotion, both public and private. In this connection the NBCC is pleased to receive assurance from the government of Nagaland that Digital India Day will not be observed on Good Friday in Nagaland,” it announced.
