Kottayam: Bishop Brian Farrell, secretary of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, is scheduled to attend a function in India to mark the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s attempt to reform the Church.
According to a statement from Fr. Gilbert Aranha, executive secretary of the Commission for Ecumenism Conference under the Catholic Bishops of India (Latin Rite), the top Vatican official will attend the December 14-15 meet to discuss and review the ecumenical scenario in India.
Diocesan secretaries for dialogue and deputy secretaries of various bishops’ councils are likely attend the meet.
Bishop Farrell comes to India every December for the meeting of Catholic Church, Orthodox Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox and Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
