Gumla: A man in Jharkhand, eastern India, fought with three bears and managed to save his sister.

According to police, Budhuwa Binjhia, a resident of Pibo village in Gumla district, had gone to the forest to collect wood along with his sister on August 29 when three bears suddenly attacked them, reports theweekendleader.com.

Binjhia fought with the bears in a bid to keep them engaged so that they did not attack his sister Jitani Kumari.

He fought for nearly half an hour until the bears ran away into the jungle.

Later, Kumari brought the injured Binjhia to the village. He was then taken to hospital where he is said to be out of danger.

Local residents have demanded that the Forest Department capture the bears and pay adequate compensation to Binjhia.
