Lucknow : In a shocking incident, dogs have reportedly eaten up the body of a patient at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences.
The deceased was identified as 40 year old Pushpa Tewari who was brought to the institute on Saturday evening. She was declared dead at around 6.30 pm while her body was kept in the deep freezer for post mortem. Pushpa’s husband Vinod alleged that all the jewellery over his wife’s body was also missing. Principal secretary health and family welfare Prashant Tewari has ordered a probe in the case besides terminating the contract of the security supervisor.
Pushpa’s husband told the police that he works in a factory in Chinhat area. “We belong to Sikanderpur Khurd area of Chinhat. Pushpa and I have two children. I left home for work after a dispute with my wife. My daughter went to school while my son was at home. My son narrated that in the afternoon, Pushpa closed the room leaving my son in the verandah who saw his mother consuming some medicines from the window. Thereafter, she started vomiting and help was called in. I rushed her to RML Institute’s emergency at around 5.30 pm where doctors declared her dead at 6.30 pm,” Vinod told the police in the presence of media persons.
On Sunday morning, when the mortuary was opened, everyone was shocked to see blood stained paw prints all over the area. Inside the room, Pushpa’s body was lying over the platform for postmortem instead of the deep freezer. Blood was scattered all over and jewellery over her body was missing, The Times of India reported.
Police was immediately called in as the relatives demanded justice. Taking a note of the matter, Principal Secretary Health Prashant Trivedi ordered a probe while director RMLIMS Dr DS Negi said that the wrong doers will not be spared.
