Kottayam: For most people, a 100th birthday would be the most remarkable event of the year.
But for Joseph Maniyakkupara, and his wife Rosamma, it is double the joy as they both turned 100 this year.
The centenarian couple who lives in Thidanad near Kottayam in Kerala got married when they were both 19 years old. Hence this year also marks the 81st anniversary of their marriage.
Maniyakkupara family and friends from Thidanad parish decided to make this a memorable event and offered thanksgiving for this extraordinary blessing.
They celebrated the occasion with a Mass at the family residence with special permission from the diocese of Palai. The Mass was led by the couple’s nephew Father Dominic Kozhikothikkal. Vicar of St Joseph’s Church Thidanad, Fr.Jacob Vadakkel, and assistant vicar Fr. George Kottaram were co-celebrants.
