New Delhi: People who have committed their lives to serve others should use heart, not mind, to deal with people, says Pope Francis’ representative in India.
“Priests and Religious have dedicated their lives for Christ and the Church and they should stand for the basic tenets of their Church,” Archbishop Giambattista Diquattro, Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, told a Church group.
Archbishop Kuriakose Bharanikulangara of Faridabad led the group that comprised priests and nuns from various dioceses of northern India that called on the nuncio at the nunciature in New Delhi on September 20.
Archbishop Diquarttro told the group that he was a lawyer before becoming a priest and that he had studied the Church laws as a priest.
The nuncio said the experience of being in the secular as well as the religious worlds has convinced him the need to interact with people with heart, not intellect.
The laws of the Church, the Italian prelate added, are meant to help its “children” lead a life of joy and peace.
The group visited the nunciature’s chapel and sprawling lawns before departing after a high tea.
