Trichy: Church of South India (CSI) will organise the quadrennial conference of the Women’s Fellowship of church, an event held once in 20 years in the state. The three-day conference will begin on Friday.
As per the organisers, a total of 350 women from the 24 dioceses of CSI (except diocese of Jaffna) will participate in the event. The concluding session of the meet will see a gala celebration for 70th anniversary of Women’s Fellowship of the Church of South India.
The Women’s Fellowship of the Church of South India was formed in 1947 and is now 70 years old.
There are 24 dioceses in CSI, spreading over the five states of Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. A Quadrennial Conference of the CSI Women’s fellowship is organised by each state (region) once in four years on rotation. It is a historical event as each state gets the opportunity to organise the conference once in 20 years.
The 14th Quadrennial Conference is being organised by Tamil region and hosted by Trichy-Thanjavur diocese between November 17 and 19, at Bishop Heber College, Trichy, said the organisers.
Under the guidance of the bishop of Trichy-Thanjavur diocese, Rt Rev Dr G Paul Vasanthakumar and the president of Women’s Fellowship, Lily Vasanthakumar, the officers of diocesan have been entrusted to organise the event.
President of CSI Women’s Fellowship Dr Susan Thomas will inaugurate the conference, while the keynote address will be rendered by the moderator of CSI, the Most Rev Dr Thomas K Oommen. Other dignitaries will grace the occasion.
