New Delhi: Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and Uttarakhand states on December 6 evening.
The earthquake measured 5.5 on Richter scale, according to reports.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said the tremors were also felt in different parts of the country. The epicenter of the earthquake was Rudraprayag, 121 km east of Dehradun. The depth of the earthquake was 30 km. It occurred at around 8:49 pm.
Initial reports from Dehradun indicate that the impact of the earthquake was not significant and a lot of people did not even feel it. However, reports from other parts of the state are awaited.
Tremors were also felt in Roorkee and Dehradun in Uttarakhand and parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
There have been no reports of any damage so far.
Many people took to Twitter just after they felt the earthquake.
“I felt this #earthquake in #Delhi. It was continuously shaking for sometime,” tweeted a Twitter user Barny.
