Kochi: The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court has rejected the petition relating to the land dealings of the Ernakulam-Angamaly diocese against Cardinal George Alancherry stating that there are not enough evidences against him to take a criminal case.
The court commented that the petitioner could approach the civil court as this matter would come under its jurisdiction.
Earlier Catholic Association for Justice president advocate Polachhan Puthupara had approached the court to take a criminal case against Father Alancherry. Though the court send notice to those priests included as witnesses in the petition, none of them appeared at the court today.
The petition was against Father Alancherry, Father Joshy Pothuva, and Monsignor Sebastian Vadakkupaadam. Polachhan had earlier approached the Central Circle Inspector of Police with the same petition.
