Imphal: Justice Abhilasha Kumari, Judge of the High Court of Gujarat was Friday sworn in as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur.
Governor Dr Najma Heptulla administered the oath of office to Justice Abhilasha Kumari at a ceremony held at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Imphal.
She is the first woman Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur.
She was appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur by the President of India on February 6.Justice Kumari is a native of Himachal Pradesh.
After graduating from Delhi University, she obtained a law degree from Himachal Pradesh University.
She joined the Bar in 1984 and pactised in the HP High Court.
The swearing in ceremony was attended by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Dy CM Y Joykumar, Speaker Yumnam Khemchand, Dy Speaker K Robindro, Council of Ministers, MLAs, Opposition leader Okram Ibobi Singh, former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam, Chief Secretary RR Rashmi, Director General of Police LM Khaute and other senior officials of the State Government, police and Bar members.
The swearing-in-ceremony of Justice Abhilasha Kumari as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur was also attended by her father Virbhadra Singh, former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister.
