Aizawl: The Mizoram government has decided to give compensation to a man who was killed in a bridge collapse in the northeastern Indian state.
H C Lalfakzuala was killed on February 13 when he and his nephew Laltleipuia of Sesawng village were trying to walk across the yet-to-be-completed Bailey bridge.
While the 48-year old was killed, his 24-year-old nephew survived with injuries.
The bridge is being built over Tuirini River, about 50 km east of Aizawl, the state capital.
On February 15, the state government announced that it would give 400,000 rupees to the victim’s nearest relatives.
The government has also decided to pay the medical bills of the injured nephew.
