Miao: The students of a village school in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh pledged to go plastic-free on June 5, the World Environment Day.
The students of Newman School in Neotan village of Changlang district also decided to keep their campus plastic-free and spread ato promote and protect the environment.
“We all have one earth. Our selfishness over the years has caused much harm to the environment, leading to new sicknesses everyday,” said principal Fr. Felix Anthony, prior to leading the students to pledge to make the campus plastic-free.
Michael Ronrang, a tenth grader, said their decision is their “humble effort to create awareness among the students about caring for the environment.”
He said they also staged a skit that highlighted the damage caused by plastic and deforestation.
The students and teachers planted saplings all around the campus at the end of an awareness skit.
