Thrissur: Fiat Mission, a Catholic lay association for evangelization, is set to hold the third Great Gathering of Mission (GGM) Congress 2019, a platform for the mission activities in India.
“The main objective of GGM is (to provide) an opportunity to share the surplus resources available with the Church in Kerala which could effectively be utilized for evangelization of India and the world,” Ceetly George, managing director of Fiat Mission, told Matters India.
It will be an opportunity for the established Church in Kerala to familiarize with the mission work in India, which in turn will enable it to rediscover the charism of Christ, he added.
“The Church in Kerala will be able to take up the ‘Go Command’ of Christ, both spiritually and materially. For this to happen, a deeper awareness is to be created in the church in Kerala. This will lead to increase in vocation dedicating themselves to missionary work, financial support for meeting the material requirements of the mission areas and prayer support for strengthening the mission church. This is the intention of this GGM,” George said.
To realize the goals the organizers have envisaged five components—Mission Exhibition, Mission Convention, Mission Gatherings, Mission retreat and Mission Harvest.
The Exhibition will be held from May 1-5, 2019, at Christnagar, Angamaly.
“As per the practice and instructions in the past two GGM we are trying to bring more participants from different parishes for the upcoming GGM. A large number of children and youth will be visiting the GGM exhibition from different dioceses,” George said.
Bishop Mar Raphel Thattil of Shamshabad Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy is the chairman of GGM and Bishop Chacko Thottumarickal SVD of Indore, Madhya Pradesh and Bishop Jacob Mar Barnabas of Gurgaon Diocese are vice chairmen.
