Patna: At least 13 persons were reported dead in different parts of the state in separate incidents at the onset of flood season as medium to heavy rains lashed Bihar.

Three persons of a family were electrocuted, one by one, at Bisauni village under Parbatta police station in Khagaria district. Arvind Kumar, 18, went to cut bamboo on Sunday morning, which was wet due to rains and touching the overhead electricity supply line. He got electrocuted and was stuck to the tree. His father Satish Prasad, 45, tried to save him and he, too, got electrocuted. Satish’s wife Dharni Devi, 42, tried to rescue both of them and lost her life too.

“It happened because of illiteracy, as the boy’s parents tried to save him without taking precautions,” Parbatta police inspector V.K. Singh said. “All the three were dead by the time residents removed the electric wire and took them to a nearby government primary health centre.”

Bodies of two kids Osama Sulemani, 9 and Sonu Sulemani, 7 were found floating in an ahar (traditional pond-like structure for irrigation purpose) on Sunday morning at Semri village under Kargahar police station in Rohtas district.

Kargahar station house officer (SHO) Devanand Sharma said: “The two boys were missing since Monday night. Their bodies were found on Tuesday. Formalities to provide compensation to the family of the deceased are being completed.”
