Siliguri: A Catholic priest working for child rights and social justice in eastern India upholds humanity as paramount.

“Humanity should stand first before any other religion,” said Father Felix Antony Pinto, director at Ashagram Children’s Home, Ranidanga, and director of Seva Kendra Siliguri of Bagdogra diocese, Bengal.

He was speaking at an inter-religious program organized by a Jain organization ‘Anuvrat Samiti’ at Siliguri on September 27. The theme was “communal harmony and peace.”

“Today I was very happy to be part of this program. I shared a few thoughts on the topic. I personally feel that in India now it is so important and urgent that we all promote harmony and peace—unity in diversity,’” said Father Pinto,

The Jain group is inspired by their great leader Acharya Shri Tulsi who started the movement soon after the Indian independence and it is being very wonderfully carried on by others. “I was enlightened by the whole program and this type of program is very much needed for national integration and harmony in India,” said Father Pinto, former Rector Morning Star College, Barrackpore.
