Vatican, October 22: Pope Francis urged Indian youth to “make their lives fruitful for the benefit of all.”
In a short video message addressed to the young people of India, he said, “A big greeting and I thank you very much I received your greetings from your delegate at the Synod and I thank you very much and I wish you the best.”
“Do not forget that youth is richness and make it fruitful for the benefit of all. You have the future in your hands. The present is in your hands. Go ahead. Do not be discouraged. I hug and pray for me,” the Holy Father said.
“When we met Pope Francis on 18 October and I gave him the gift on behalf of the ‘Youth of India,’ that’s what he said in response to all the ‘Young People of India,’ said Percival Holt, National Youth President, of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement [ICYM] – Conference of Catholic Bishops of India [CCBI] (India).
The beautiful gift was: “Good Shepherd Cross” especially hand carved on sandalwood with a lotus (national flower of India) at the bottom as a symbol of love and purity and a traditional Indian border and designed by Ishan Pattnaik and made by KARU.
Holt is one of the 14 Indian delegations present at the on-going 12th General Congregation of the Synod that is meeting at the Vatican on October 3 to 28 to discuss “young people, faith and vocational discernment.”
