Deomali, Oct. 18, 2018: The Newman Educational Society, the educational wing of Miao Diocese in Arunachal Pradesh, has successfully conducted its seventh inter-school sports and cultural event.
Around 620 students from 22 schools under the society competed in various group and individual games and sports items during October 14-17 at St. George School, Deomali, a town in the Tirap district of the northeastern Indian state.
Tirong Aboh, who represents the area in the state legislative assembly, was the chief guest at the concluding day of the event, named Radiance.
He lauded the students and the Newman Educational Soceity for the event and acknowledged the role of Christians in the field of education in East Arunachal Pradesh. Father Edvin Prabhu, diocesan administrator, encouraged the students to keep the body fit and healthy in order to keep the mind fit to acquire knowledge.
The event ended with the distribution of trophies to the winners. Newman School Neotan of Changlang district emerged the overall champion of the event, and St. Savio School, Kanubari and De Paul School, Tissa of Longding district, that participated for first time in the event, emerged as the first and second Runners Up respectively.
Students from Mother Teresa School, Kharsang, Light of the World School, Miao and St. George School, Deomali, presented traditional dances to give a colorful conclusion to the seventh edition of Radiance.
