Kolkata, Nov. 7, 2018: The Archdiocese of Calcutta has published a book containing the catechetical insights of Pope Francis on Mass.
Archbishop Thomas D’Souza of Calcutta released the book on November 6 at the joint meeting of the bishops, priests and religious of West Bengal at Seva Kendra, the archdiocesan social service center, in Kolkata, capital of the eastern Indian state.
The book is the collection of a series of talks on the Mass that Pope Francis has given during his Wednesday General Audiences between November 2017 and April 2018.
Pope Francis initiated the catechesis with 15 talks where he systematically explained the various elements of the Mass in a pastoral tone. The talks also include his personal experiences of the Mass.
Salesian Father Gilbert Choondal, who edited the book, adds in the book additional points for reflection after each talk by the Pope. The Indian priest also opens avenues for further development in catechesis on the topic.
The three points for reflection at the end of each papal talk are –retrospect to introspect, Mass to muse and words to deeds. At the end of this catechesis, Father Choondal also provides five additional topics to provide a panoramic view of the Mass from other angles.
Before the release, Father Choondal introduced the book to the audience.
The book is available at Nitika Don Bosco, Kolkata, and book centers of Pauline Sisters in Kolkata and Bengaluru.
