Kochi, Dec. 12, 2019: The Kerala High Court has stated that the doctors who conducted narco-analysis of the accused in the Sister Abhya murder case cannot be tried.
The High Court cancelled the directive of the Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court that the doctors should be tried.
The CJM court had ordered to try N Krishnaveny and Praveen Parvathappa who conducted narcoanalysis of the accused in 2007.
However, the accused Father Thomas Kottoor and Sister Stephy approached the High Court questioning this move, pointing out that there is a Supreme Court order stating that trying doctors who conducted narco-analysis is not legal.
The High Court had earlier stayed trying the doctors who performed narco-analysis test till December 10 on the basis of the plea filed by the accused. The court made the crucial intervention as the last phase of the trial was about to start on Thursday.
