Diphu, Dec 31, 2019: Two persons were killed and 33 wounded when a group of young Catholics met with an accident in Assam, Father Anthony Ingti, youth director of Diphu diocese, told Matters India on December 31.

The accident occurred on December 29 at Silonijan village in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam. The youth belonged to Rongbongghat parish of Diphu diocese.

Four among the wounded are in critical condition, the priest added.

The Catholic young people were returning after the annual youth convention.

“We have lost two lives; four are in ICU with critical condition and the rest of the youth are seriously injured and are undergoing treatment in a local hospital. We need your prayers and financial assistance,” Father Ingti said.

The road accident occurred on the way to Borpothar from Silanjijana. Bar Pathar is a village in the Taluka of Silonijan, Karbi Anglong district.

About 50 people were on the bus at the time of accident.
