Ranchi, Jan 18, 2020: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on January 18 inaugurated the 100-bed St. Anne’s Hospital and Research Centre (SAHRC) at Raja Ulatu village in the Namkum block of Ranchi.
Addressing the people on the occasion, Soren praised the Ranchi-based indigenous congregation of the Daughters of St. Anne (DSA) for their novel step in starting their first hospital.
The hospital complex would provide better healthcare to the poor and others, he added.
“We believe that all mankind has the full right to have quality care and SAHRC is committed to it,” said Sister Linda Mary Vaughan, superior general of the congregation.
DSA Ranchi was founded by Mother Mary Bernadette Kispotta, Servant of God, from Chotanagpur, Jharkhand.
For the past 122 years, DSA nuns have been serving people of the country mainly women and children where ever they are.
DSA has focused especially on the basic needs of the poor since 1897 in the field of education, health care and social work in the advancement of the needy through its motto ‘Better service with the love of Jesus’.
“Today the dream of our founder has become true and visible when we see and realize the things are happening with the inauguration of St. Anne’s Hospital and Research Center,” said Sister Vaughan.
She thanked Jesuit Archbishop Felix Toppo of Ranchi for granting them the permission to begin the hospital and to all the bishops for their blessings and valuable prayers.
The purpose of the hospital is to be a recognized leader in neurologic patient care, education, and research in the state and region.
It would provide optimal, innovative and compassionate medical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
It would focus on primary-care and referring clinicians regarding shared patients and collaborate with community health professionals in improving patient care.
DSA has 1,030 members working in different states of India and abroad.
It received Pontifical Right on April 8, 2002.
