New Delhi, Feb 6, 2020: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) marked 20 years of its establishment on Feb 6.

ICYM is the official parochial youth movement under the Conference of Catholic Bishops’ of India (CCBI). ICYM functions at the grassroots in all Latin rite parishes throughout the country.

It was established and approved back then by Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) in 2000 on the occasion of the feast day of its patron Saint Gonsalo Garcia (Feast Day – Febr 6).

With the vision to promote young protagonists for the church and society, ICYM has and continues to contribute to the overall growth and formation of young Catholics in India based on gospel values, to become better humans.

“I thank God for giving ICYM to us. Through this wonderful movement, we (youth) can do lots of wonders which we do not realize that we have done it,” Becare me o Nongtdu, former regional president, North East Region of Youth Commission, told Matters India.

He prayed that God would enlighten the present leaders of ICYM to lead and serve the youth and enable them to seek the right way of living to shine for the good of society and the Church.

“I owe my heartfelt gratitude to the former leaders who led and served this movement that made us (youth) to shine,” he said.
