Mumbai, March 4, 2020: A two-day communication and media workshop on the theme “Awakening: A Missionary Responsibility” was organized by the Society of Divine Word (SVD) Mumbai province on March 3-4 at Atma Darshan, Andheri, Mumbai.

As many as 30 SVD priests and two Holy Spirit sisters (SSpS) from all over India participated in the workshop.

Seeing the need to preach the Gospel through social media is the need of the time as the modern technology has become a handy thing.

The purpose of the workshop was to awaken the missionaries about their responsibility of preaching the Good News as there has been a lethargy creeping in about the evangelization.

The resource person Bishop Jose Porunnedom of Manathavady Diocese (Kerala) stressed documentation and archives saying, “Documents in the archive are important because they are the source of making history and thus need an utmost care.”

Society of the Sacred Heart Sister Manisha Gonsalves in her session emphasized interpersonal communication saying that they are the basis of all good communication.

Third speaker, Father Joshan Rodrigues, the priest from Mumbai Archdiocese, stressed on the right use of social media. He also gave practical tips on the use of social media.

The fourth speaker Margaret da Costa highlighted on leadership and communication, inviting the missionaries to become effective leaders.

In the discussions and deliberations, the participants expressed that they have been awakened f their responsibilities and much has to be done in this field of their communication apostolate.
