New Delhi, March 23, 2020: The elderly people in India can now breathe easy amid the coronavirus scare.
Seniority, India’s largest shopping destination for seniors, on March 23 joined DocsApp, a leading digital healthcare platform, to provide exclusive medical assistance to those above 60, a group vulnerable to the Covid 19 pandemic.
They launched a round the clock helpline, 080 4719 3443, to bust myths, reduce panic and help educate the elderly on Coronavirus, says a press release from the two groups.
“While people of all age groups are equally susceptible to this virus, the health stakes are high for the elderly due to chronic illnesses and lower immunity. They are more likely to suffer from underlying conditions that hinder the body’s ability to cope with and recover from serious illnesses,” it adds.
The helpline aims to help people access skilled medical professionals during critical times. Individuals on the platform could avail free online consultations across all departments from doctors at the convenience of their homes, without possibly exposing themselves to the virus on the platform.
Seniority and DocsApp have also created a repository of informative articles, blogs, weekly newsletters and webinars to impart accurate information and safety measures related to coronavirus, the press release says.
Seniority, an RPG (Rama Prasad Goenka) Group Company, claims it as India’s largest shopping destination for senior citizens. It has more than 10,000 products ranging from medical and wellness to leisure and lifestyle.
The company also claims to provide “a seamless experience through its website” and retail stores at Chennai and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra’s Bhiwadi and Pune.
It was founded in 2016 by Ayush Agrawal, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management and Tapan Mishra, a product of the London School of Economics and Xavier Institute of Management of Bhubaneswar.
The founders say they launched the helpline as part of their duty to spread awareness about the current situation where the number of Covid 19 affected people is increasing worldwide, including India.
“Our collaboration with DocsApp will help us reach out to a large number of people who are prone to virus infections,” the press release quotes them as saying.
They also said the “safety and welfare of everyone around is of prime importance to us and we sincerely hope that we are able to fight back together in such unforeseen circumstances.”
