New Delhi, March 19, 2020: Archbishop Anil J T Couto of Delhi inaugurated the new office cum residence of the secretary to Conference of Catholic Bishops’ of India (CCBI) Commission for Migrants on March 16.
Archbishop Anil blessed the house and made it open for the use of the commission for migrants.
He emphasized in his inaugural address the commitment of the Catholic Church on the pastoral care of the migrants and to all other sections of vulnerable populations irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
The prelate also said the office will be a center to coordinate the activities of the commission nationally and internationally.
He wished all the best to Advocate Father Jaison Vadassery, the new secretary to the commission who is also the secretary to the International Catholic Migration Commission.
Father Stephen Alathara, deputy secretary-general of CCBI, thanked Archbishop for his generosity to provide a nice house with all the facilities for the use of the Commission in New Delhi.
Archbishop Anil also availed a similar space at Faridabad, Delhi for the Youth Commission of CCBI to operate as a national center.
The inaugural function was also attended by Fathers from the Archbishop House, CCBI, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI), Caritas India, social service wing of Indian bishops, and the newly appointed secretary for migrants for the north region Sister Rani Punnasseril.
Father Vadassery thanked everyone who all came and graced the occasion and invited their wholehearted collaboration for the future programs of the commission.
He also thanked the volunteers who helped the commission to make the inaugural function beautiful and meaningful.
