Guwahati, March 2, 2020 — Governor of Assam, Shri Jagdish Mukhi, inaugurated a 7-day Tribal Youth Exchange Program at Don Bosco Institute.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) in collaboration with Don Bosco Institute is organizing the 7-days Tribal Youth Exchange Program from 2nd to 8th March 2020 at Don Bosco Institute, Kharguli, Guwahati.

Some 500 students from various States and Union Territories have enrolled for the program.

At the inaugural ceremony held at Don Bosco Institute’s amphitheatre, Governor of Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi was the Chief Guest along with State Chief Information Director, Arunachal Pradesh Dr. Joram Begi, Salesian Vice Provincial of Guwahati Fr. Joseph L. Teron, Regional Director of NSS Mr. Dipak Kumar, and Executive Director of DBI Dr (Fr) P.D. John.

Assam Governor expressed his joy to be a part of the program and spoke about the various initiatives taken up by the central govt to develop the tribal community.

He told the students, “take this opportunity to know each other. Learn about each other’s culture and when they go home take something new with them.”

He further advised youngsters, “to make one new friend every day from another State and interact with participants of different states learn from their culture.”

The Governor also reminded the students that “we are Indians first and everything else comes second.”

While thanking NSS Regional Directorate for joining hands with Don Bosco, the Governor praised Don Bosco Institute for hosting this mega event and also expressed his confidence that the program will be success since it is done by Don Bosco.

NSS is a voluntary organization dedicated to the growth and development of young people of India, especially the tribal population of India. The NSS motto is ‘NOT ME BUT YOU.”

The 7-day event will consist of various sessions, cultural evenings, local sight-seeing, adventure activities and a host of activities connected to Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

The 7-days event will conclude on 8th March 2020.
