Chennai, June 1, 2020: Father Pascal Petrus of Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore is the first death of a priest from coronavirus in Tamil Nadu. He was 70.

Father Petrus, the parish priest of Choolai, died at 7 pm on May 30 in Tamil Nadu Government Multi-Super-Specialty Hospital, Omendurar, Chennai.

According to sources, he was admitted to St Isabel’s Hospital in the morning.

His lungs were filled with flumes, so he was asked to move to other hospitals such as Venkateshwara, Miot, Billroth, Kilpauk, Government Hospitals and no one admitted him because of his age. Then he was admitted to Omendurar at 6:30 pm. He died an hour later.

He had a fever earlier and went to the local hospital and was diagnosed with typhoid.

He took medicine but Coronavirus spread fast within a week, sources say.
