New Delhi, July 11, 2020: Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan tested positive for coronavirus, he revealed in a tweet on July 11 night.
In his tweet, Bachchan, 77, said that he’s been admitted to a hospital. Bachchan also said his family members and staff have undergone tests for Covid-19 and their results are awaited.
“I have tested Covid positive. Shifted to hospital… hospital informing authorities… family and staff undergone tests, results awaited,” read a part of Bachchan’s tweet. “All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested,” Bachchan added in his tweet.
Last month, Bachchan’s Gulabo Sitabo released on OTT (Over-the-Top media serice) platform Amazon Prime, making it Big B’s first digital release. Bachchan was critically acclaimed for his performance in the movie, also starring Ayushmann Khurrana. Amitabh Bachchan’s line-up of films now includes Brahmastra, Jhund and Chehre. Bachchan will also return as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati for the upcoming season.
A doctor at Nanavati Hospital told The Hindu: “Mr. Bachchan came to the hospital at 10 p.m. after he was tested positive. He is stable as of now. We will be conducting all the necessary tests to know his exact condition.”
The hospital sources also said the Bollywood star was rushed to the hospital after experiencing breathlessness.
Actors and other Bollywood colleagues have tweeted their wishes for his quick recovery. Taapsee Pannu wrote, “And you shall be back to health n happiness soon!champ !” Sonu Sood wrote, “Get well soon sir.”
“Sending you tons of love and best wishes … please take care … you ll be okay very soon!,” wrote Neha Dhupia.
