Hyderabad, July 7, 2020: Father Raymond Ambroise, former secretary of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) Office of Social Communication and consultant to Manila-based Radio Veritas Asia died of heart attack on July 7. He was 75.
The death came at 8:25 am at Home for the disabled in Secunderabad, the twin city of Hyderabad, capital of Telangana state.
Father Raymond Ambroise is the brother of Bishop Emeritus Yvon Ambroise of Tuticorin and co-founder of Amruthavani, Jeevan Press, Home for the Disabled and Andhra Pradesh Social Service Society.
Father Raymond was instrumental in making the film “Dayasagar” (ocean of mercy) in Hindi, “Karunamayudu” in Tamil and “Karunamurthi” in Tamil and the teleserial Dayasagar in Telugu. Jesuit Father Balaguer said that he found the right successor to him at Amruthavani (voice of nectar) where he was the founder director.
Father Ambroise worked hard for the emancipation of Dalits through APSSS from 1976. His brother bishop had started the society and worked for six months, then, Fr. Raymond, who belonged to the Archdiocese of Hyderabad continued the work.
As a consultant to Radio Vertias Asia, he ensured that digital broadcasts were set for all languages and created an app too for the same.
