New Delhi, July 4, 2020: Archbishop Emeritus Bernard Moras of Bangalore has tested positive for coronavirus.

A press release from Archbishop Peter Machado of Bangalore says his predecessor had gone to St John’s Medical College in Bengaluru for a routine check-up on July 2 as he was not too well.

“On July 3 it was confirmed that he has mild symptoms of Covid and the doctors have assured that his situation at present is stable,” the press note explained.

Archbishop Machado assured the ailing prelate the prayers of all the faithful in the Archdiocese for a speedy recovery.

Archbishop Moras is the second retired prelate in India to test Covid-19 positive.

Archbishop Emeritus Vincent Michael Concessao of Delhi, who was hospitalized after he tested Covid-19 positive, has recovered and returned to his residence.

Archbishop Concessao of Delhi “has been completely recovered from Covid-19 and back to his residence in Haryana’s Gurgaon,” Father Denny George, who stays with the prelate, told Matters India on July 4.

The 83-year-old prelate was admitted in Delhi’s Holy Family Hospital on June 9 after he complained of breathlessness and fever.

Father George, vicar of Gurgaon’s Church of Immaculate Conception, said the archbishop is grateful to all who prayed for his recovery and praying for all those who are infected with the virus.
