Chhota Udaipur, Aug 21, 2020: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), an NGO, has reached out 172,955 poor in western India, since April.
Salesian Father Rolvin D’Mello, executive director of DBDS, told Matters India that they have joined several other NGOs and civil society groups to help poor villagers in Gujarat, Maharashtra and other western India states.
They distribute relief kits containing ration for a month, toiletries and hygiene kits, funded by the federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (Germany) and Don Bosco Mondo (Bonn-Germany), the priest said.

They also work among commercial sex workers, transgenders, widows, physically challenged, slum dwellers, migrants, leprosy patients,
“This relief operation aimed to take care of the basic needs of these families for a month,” said Father D’Mello.
DBDS was founded in 2001 to enable individuals and communities to work for sustainable solutions to their problems.
It has been active in tribal, rural and urban areas in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Since its inception, it has been working in communities addressing the issues related to women, children, livelihood, human rights, environment, education, food security, health, vocational skills training and water and sanitation.
