Panaji, Sept 5, 2020: The Covid-19 pandemic could not dampen the spirit of expressing teacher-student relationship in schools.
Some parents and students of Sarada Mandir School in Goa’s Miramar found a new way to greet the teachers on September 5, the Teacher’s Day.
“The parents came in the morning and decorated the school gate. When we reached, we were surprised to see the closed gate adorned flowers and messages,” an elated Melissa do Rego, one of the teachers, told Matters India.
She said the teachers had lined up on the road near the gate, observing Covid-19 protocols when student’s parents drove by in 35 cars. “The students sitting inside rolled down the windows and greeted us from the cars. They were holding placards with messages,” Rego narrated.
Niwedita Dwivedi, a parent, said they had decided to surprise the teachers by celebrating the teacher’s day in a very unique and touching manner.
Rego said 64 teachers were present on the occasion. “It was a unique celebration, indeed. I made a video saying “Thank you” and sent to the school office to pass it on to the parents,” she added.
A day earlier, the school authorities bought 150 books for their library in the name of the school’s 150 teachers. “All of them can benefit from them,” observed Oscar Gonsalves, administrator mManger of the school.
