Patna: Jesuit-managed St Xavier’s College of Management and Technology in Patna organized a cyclothon to promote cleanliness and healthy environment on October 2, the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The college’s National Service Scheme organized the cyclothon in collaboration with Xavier Green Riders and Xavier Sports Club. It was flagged off by Manoj Kumar, sub-inspector of Digha police station.

About 45 people, including 10 girls, participated in the cyclothon that passed through Raj Bhawan, Eco Park, Bihar Museum and Golghar before culminating at Gandhi Sanghralay, where the students staged a street play.

The college also conducted a national quiz competition on Mahatma Gandhi’s life, mission and contribution to the world as a preacher of non-violence, peace and truth.

As many as 212 students from Patna, Chennai, Jaipur, Bhopal and Mangaluru participated in the quiz.

Sanskriti Khandelwal, an eleventh grader of St Joseph’s Convent High school, Patna, bagged the first prize, while Sivangi Kumari of the host college and Riya Verma of St. Karen’s High School, Patna, took the second and third place, respectively.

College principal Father T Nishaant and vice principal Father Martin Poras were among those attending the event.
