New Delhi: A Christian woman leader has been appointed as an “Eminent Global Peace Ambassador.”

The appointment and Chattered Fellowship Award came from Forum 36 – Peace and Unity – International Peace Advocates, an international body.

Minakshi Singh, general secretary of Unity in Christ, a forum of Protestant churches based in New Delhi, is expected to be a peacemaker in any part of the world with regards to the declaration on the right of the people to peace (1984) of the United Nations Resolution.

She received a citation and an appointment on November 10.

“I am very grateful to H E Amb Harrison Okey Okoh for appointing me as an Eminent Global Peace Ambassador in Forum 36 Peace and Unity,” Singh said.

She is also the national chairperson of the Human Protection Peace Council and the National Federation for Christian Women.

During the early months of lockdown imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19 in India, Singh along with her Unity in Christ, a registered NGO, and others from various faith groups distributed home-cooked food and rations to people in need in different parts of Delhi since March 25.
