Patna: A two-day workshop for adolescent boys was held at the Tarumitra Ashram called the ‘Lung of Patna.’

As many as 42 teenagers from Nawada Kala village of Hajipur participated in the October 31-November 1 workshop organized by Swabhiman (self-respect) Foundation, an NGO based in Patna.

Under the Adolescent Health Program, the participants were provided with information on physical, mental and emotional development and empowerment.

On the first day, Father Pranoy, director of Dialogue Center at Vaishali, addressed on purpose of life, understanding the various stages of age and physical and mental changes occurring in adolescence and withstanding it.

Swabhiman’s director Smita Parmar spoke about juvenile rights.

On the second day, Jesuit Father Tony Pendanath, director of Tarumitra Ashram, spoke on environmental protection, organic farming and biodiversity.

The medicinal properties found from the various trees and plants were also explained.

At the end of the workshop, the participants were advised to protect their life from hazards present in social life by being aware of their life, right and safe environment.

They expressed happiness at being at the ashram away for the first time.

Devopriya Dutta, an activist and staff of Tarumitra Ashram, distributed certificates of participation and special Tarumitra badge to a few who performed excellently in various activities and tasks given during the two day program.
