Panaji: Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrão of Goa and Daman has urged his people to keep the Word of God close to their heart on daily basis.

The archbishop, who is also the president of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), was releasing the book “Celebrating the Word of God” on January 27 at Archbishop’s House in Panaji, capital of Goa state.

Echoing what Pope Francis had spoken more than once, Archbishop Filipe said, “Let us make room in our lives for the word of God. Let us read each day, a verse or two of the Bible and allow it to inspire us daily. This volume helps us to realize and appreciate the place of Word of God in our liturgy, mission and life as well as the significance of celebrating the Word of God on special Sunday.”

The book brings together four Church documents on the Word of God. It includes two Apostolic Letters of Pope Francis: (1) Aperuit Illis, instituting the celebration of the Word of God on a special Sunday of the Year and published on September 30, 2019 (2) Scripturae Sacrae Affectus, published a year later (3) The Roman Missal Lectionary Praenotanda, which contains the essential catechesis about Scripture in the Liturgy and (4) Note of the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments for the celebration of the Sunday of the Word of God, published on December 17, 2020.

The “Celebrating the Word of God” is published by the CCBI.
