New Delhi: Bishop Emeritus Collin Theodore of Church of North India’s Rajasthan diocese died on April 15. He was 75.

His family members arranged for his cremation at 2:30 pm in accordance with Bishop Theodore’s will.

Bishop Theodore did his theological studies in Bishop’s College, Calcutta, and was ordained in 1980. Later he joined the Brotherhood of the Ascended Christ, a religious order of the CNI. He began his ministry as associate presbyter in St. James Church at Kashmere Gate Old Delhi.

He served in various churches as presbyter; as well as youth director of the Delhi Diocese; Late he was appointed the youth director for the entire Church of North India.

He was consecrated as Bishop of Rajasthan diocese in May 2001 and served as its head for ten years.

He also served as Moderator’s Episcopal Commissary to the Lucknow Diocese. After his retirement, he continued to lead the Delhi Chapter of the National Council of Churches in India (NCCI).

Church leaders said Bishop Theodore was a simple, energetic and accessible person. They hailed his involvement in the development of the most deprived communities through the Delhi Brotherhood Society.

“We thank God for the life, ministry and witness of Bishop Theodore,” said Richard Devadoss, convener of the National Dalit Christian Watch.

The National Dalit Christian Watch too offered heartfelt and deep condolences to his family and those close to him. “We pray for his soul to rest in eternal peace,” its leaders said.
