Secunderabad: The Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) has launched the ‘Mary Glowrey – Liliane Brekelmans Disability Award 2021’.

This award was instituted as a token of appreciation from Liliane Fonds (LF) of the Netherlands for CHAI’s services to 33000 children and youth with disabilities in the last 25 years on the occasion of CHAI’s platinum jubilee in 2018.

This is the third round of the Mary Glowrey – Liliane Brekelmans Disability Award project, said a statement from CHAI said.

For this year, a total amount of Indian rupees one million will be given as award money under two categories.

The award will be given in two categories—a role model NGO or institution and a role model with or without a disability.

There will be commendation awards to four organizations from the CHAI network and four organizations from outside the CHAI network and four individuals from the CHAI network and four individuals from outside the CHAI network.

The goal of the award is to recognize and further exemplary work by organizations and individuals in the field of disability and honor the resilience of people with disabilities.

A screening committee will delineate procedural criteria, invite as well as shortlist nominations.

Nominations will be invited from persons and organizations fulfilling eligibility criteria.

The top five nominations will be verified and shared with the selection committee.

CHAI is the Catholic Church’s premier healthcare organization in India. Sister Mary Glowrey, an Australian doctor founded it in 1943.
