Kottayam, Feb 22, 2022: Bishop Franco Mulakkal of Jalandhar will take classes during an exclusive seminar for Catholic priests in Kerala, southern India.

Christeen, a Catholic Charismatic movement for children, is organizing the February 24 seminar in Kottayam, a major tow in Kerala. The seminar will address issues and problems faced by the Church, especially in Kerala.

Bishop Mulakkal on February 22 confirmed to Matters India his participation in the program.

An invitation from T Santhosh of the Christeen team to priests in various Kerala dioceses says the four-hour program will begin at 4 pm at Christeen Retreat Centre at Kalathipady in Kottayam.

The fellowship of priests will comprise classes by Bishop Mulakkal followed by discussions led by the prelate. It will end with the prayer of anointing of the Holy Spirit.

The seminar is being held in the backdrop of several issues Christian institutions in Kerala are facing now, the organizers said.

Justin, one of the coordinators, told thenewsminute.com that the Church is facing issues such as religious terrorism, communist activities, and Islamic movements’ attacks.

“Against this backdrop, the meeting is being held to discuss how to handle all these issues,” Justin said.

He also said the Christian youth in Kerala face job issues and see no scope for them in the state. “This aspect will also be discussed in the meeting,” Justin said.

Franco Mulakkal was recently acquitted in the historic nun rape case.
