Tura, Aug 18: A Salesian college in Meghalaya has completed 100 years of service in the northeastern Indian state.

The centenary of the Salesians entry into the region and Don Bosco college in Tura recently took place at the college on August 18.

Minister of Food and Civil Supplies James Pangsang K Sangma, the chief guest, hailed the Salesians’ contributions to northeastern India and Garo Hills in particular. He expressed gratitude and assured that the people of the region are also grateful to them.

Bishop Andrew R Marak of Tura and West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Tembe also attended the program.

Bishop Marak lauded the Salesians’ missionary work in Garo Hills and recalled how the college was conceived and built.

Tembe, appreciating the Salesians’ services in the area of academics, urged the students and others present about to contribute and give back to society.
