New Delhi, March 30, 2024: Archbishop Andrews Thazhath of Trichur, president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India, has called for reaching out to diverse cultures, languages, and traditions with kindness and understanding.
In his Easter message issued on March 30, the eve of Easter, the archbishop also urged people to bridge differences and bridges of peace and harmony in “our communities and beyond.”
The head of India’s more than 20 million Catholics says Easter reminds people of “the triumph of light over darkness, of hope over despair, and of life over death.”
“It is a time of reflection and rejoicing, as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. His sacrifice and resurrection embody the ultimate message of love, forgiveness, and redemption,” the message added.
The prelate also prayed for Easter blessings to fill people’s lives with renewed hope, faith, and love.
“In the midst of our diverse cultures, languages, and traditions, Easter unites us in a common bond of our shared humanity and the values of compassion, forgiveness, and reconciliation,” Archbishop Thazhath explained.
He also wants people to draw inspiration from the Easter message that “even in our darkest moments, there is always hope; that even in the face of adversity, there is always the promise of new beginnings; and that even in the midst of suffering, there is always the presence of God’s love, guiding us, sustaining us, and leading us to a brighter tomorrow.”
