New Delhi, Dec 10, 2024: Around 50 pastors from various Christian denominations in the national capital have attended an Advent Recollection and prayed for peace in the world and India, especially in the northeastern state of Manipur.
Colonel Vanlafela, Territory Manager of The Salvation Army India, Northern Region, who addressed the December 9 event spoke on “Jesus, the Prince of Peace.”
He stressed Christ’s relevance in the current context, particularly in northern India and Manipur where ethnic clashes have raged since May 3, 2023:
He highlighted the importance of embracing the peace that Jesus offers and living in harmony with one another.
The program at the Marthoma Centre began with a prayer song led by Divine Word Father Norbert Herman and his team. Father Herman, the secretary of the Delhi archdiocese’s interfaith commission, coordinated the program.
Reverend Mor John Iraneus from the Believer’s Church offered the opening prayer.
Reverend Daniel Thomas, secretary of the Marthoma Centre, welcomed the guests.
Reverend Johnson led special prayers for peace and unity among all people.
The event ended with blessings from Bishop Mar Zacharias Aprem of the Marthoma Church.
If the minority Christians of India are living in the past history, they can’t do much for the fundamental rights of the persecuted Chriains of India. The Catholic Church which has the largest membership in India, and hundreds of Protestant Churches on the other side. Let us all get together and hold hands for our rights, and to help the persecuted Christians of India; then GOD will send HIS special guidance and blessings upon us. Glad to see the picture in which 50 Christian denominations are joining hands for a great and worthy cause. May GOD bless us all to carry on a great commission at this critical time faced with the Christians of India.
On the day of dharna in Jantar Mantar, Manipur spokesperson was emphasizing ” We are not clamouring for peace in Manipur, We are asking for solution to the problem.”
