Chingmeirong, October 22, 2025: Don Bosco School, Chingmeirong, Manipur, came alive with colour, rhythm, and tradition during its inaugural cultural festival.

The October 17–18 event, “Cultural Extravaganza 2025: My Culture, My Pride,” marked a milestone in the school’s commitment to weaving cultural education into its academic ethos.

The school was founded on March 5, 1957, by Salesians Fathers Peter Bianchi and A. Ravalico. The cultural festival that blended heritage with innovation drew students, educators, parents, and community members.

Held against the backdrop of ongoing ethnic unrest between the Kuki and Meitei communities in Manipur, the festival emerged as a gesture of social harmony, unity, resilience, and cultural affirmation.

Inaugurated by Somorjit Salam, special secretary of Health and Family Welfare, the festival opened with a call to embrace cultural identity as a source of strength. “This initiative reflects the transformative power of education rooted in cultural pride,” Salam told the gathering.

The second day welcomed Angam Romanus Kamei, Inspector General of Police and a Bosconian alumnus, as chief guest. “To see young Bosconians celebrate their roots with such grace and creativity is deeply moving,” he shared. Salesian Father Albert Tirkey, parish priest and vice rector, joined as the guest of honor.

The school campus showcased India’s cultural diversity. Senior students presented traditional dances and a model village exhibition, while food stalls offered regional delicacies. A photo corner invited attendees to capture the moment in ethnic attire. The following day featured a fashion show by junior students, interactive performances, and cultural games.

School authorities described the festival as “a successful fusion of traditional values and contemporary creativity,” adding, “The spirit of unity in diversity was evident throughout the two-day celebration.” Their remarks underscored the festival’s role in fostering social harmony and identity formation among young learners.

A visitor, who preferred anonymity, summed it up: “Don Bosco School’s initiative stands as a testament to the enduring relevance of cultural education. Pride in one’s heritage is not just a celebration—it’s a foundation for lifelong learning and unity.”

The school administration hinted at making cultural extravaganza an annual fixture — an enduring platform for nurturing socially conscious citizens through cultural affirmation.
